Dear Edwina Jr: Come get these kids!

I have been fortunate enough to be contracted as the Director/Drama Instructor for an After School drama program at a local preparatory school. With the help of a choreographer and a second drama teacher we will produce a Broadway Junior production of DEAR EDWINA (it’s a really cute show that teaches about manners and etiquette – in a fun way.) Boy oh boy, I did not know what I was getting myself into. Directing a full-length (about an hour and a half) musical production with child actors is quite the feat. Making sure parents are satisfied, casting the production, securing props and whipping the kids into performance shape is…tough. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Well good thing I have three more months to get this together.

We have been in rehearsal since August and the show if February 10th, 2010. Thus far, we have choreographed about half the show, with pretty good results. The kids want to be there and that is half the battle. I absolutely love what I do and I’m grateful to be there, let’s just hope I get through to February without strangling anyone’s child.

I will keep updating and post pics and video so you can see the progress.
