"ordinary affects" Update: Fully casted and ready to go!
We are FULLY CASTED! The director, Marisa Munnings, and I had a small casting at my apartment on Thursday. It was really refreshing to see some very talented actresses show up, I was surprised. It was a real reminder that New York is FULL of talented people, man. The highlight of the casting for me was a young actress Dominique Fishback, who can currently be seen in Project Girl's stunningly brave and beautiful piece about sex-trafficking, called Trafficked. To be honest, this isn't rocket science. I wrote a playlet. It's ten pages long. I'm no Suzan-Lori, but as an experiment in doing shit that scares me, I promised myself I would write a play. What's really a big deal is that fact that I was able to provide a space for other actors, like Dominique, to perform. It's one step in a series of many that I plan to take to change the landscape for actors in New York. Werd.
For the Harlem Arts Festival you don't need a ticket, just show up! It's an outdoor festival and my play is slotted to go on at Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at 2:30pm SHARP. The play runs about 12 minutes and we have another 10 minutes for a Q & A session.
Tickets for The New Voices in Theater Festival can be purchased here. The show premieres Thursday, August 2nd, 2012. Same running time and Q & A session to follow. If you buy a ticket before June 23rd they are buy one get one half off. So please make sure you buy a ticket because I wanna se yo face in the place (I couldn't resist using that phrase).
I'll leave you with this errie/amazing little video feautring Mister Rogers.
